Trabzon City Mosque and Complex

Trabzon City Mosque and Complex is constructed on a commanding site overlooking the sea in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon at Pazarkapı. Founded in 2018 this building is the largest mosque and complex in East Black Sea Region.

The mosque’s main dome is 42 metres high and 22 metres in diameter with four minarets rising to a height of 77 metres. The interior space is designed to receive natural light through 24 windows. The structure harmonizes traditional Turkish-Islamic architecture with modern elements and has been constructed with careful consideration of acoustic performance.

The mosque has a capacity for approximately 7,700 worshippers at the same time. Elevators are provided for accessibility by persons with disabilities. The complex includes a 14-classroom educational centre 15 workshop a 1,000-seat conference and assembly hall a kitchen a men’s and women’s ablution house a ablution facility and an indoor car park like as social facilities place.

The project was initiated with the support of former Environment and Minister of Urban Planning Erdoğan Bayraktar and is progressing through contributions from philanthropists in Trabzon. Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç stated that the mosque is targeted to open for worship during the 2025 Sacrifice holiday.
