Tirebolu (District)
Tirebolu is a place built upon three small promontories along the Black Sea coast, featuring magnificent castles reminiscent of those in fairy tale books. Its name means “Three Cities” in the old language, as it is said that three large castles once stood side by side in this region. Are you ready to explore these castles rising directly from the sea and the lush green landscape?
Where is Tirebolu?
Tirebolu is located in the eastern part of Giresun Province in the Black Sea Region. On one side it borders the deep blue sea, and on the other it is bordered by the emerald-green Giresun Mountains stretching toward the sky. The Harşit Creek and Özlüce Stream flow through the mountains and empty into the sea along Tirebolu’s coastline. The highest point in the district is Akılbaba Hill.
Where Nature Meets Flavor
Among the most notable things associated with Tirebolu are its world-famous hazelnuts and delicious tea. The slopes of the mountains are entirely covered with hazelnut orchards. In addition, freshly caught fish from the fertile waters of the Black Sea and medicinal honeys collected from mountain meadows are among Tirebolu’s indispensable treasures.
Places to See
If you visit Tirebolu, you must certainly see Saint Jean Castle along the seashore and Bedrama Castle, which dominates the valley. During the summer months, you can join lively festivals held in cool highland areas such as Kazıkbeli and Güvende. Watching the sun rise over the sea and set back into it will offer you an unforgettable view.
