### **Plot**

In 1998, Ron Clark left his teaching job at an elementary school in North Carolina. Known for raising test scores thanks to his innovative teaching methods, Clark decides to teach in a tough inner-city school in New York City, where he thinks he can be more useful. He eventually finds a job at Inner Harlem Elementary School, where students are segregated according to their potential. Principal Turner wants to assign Clark to the honors class, but Clark insists on taking the most disadvantaged class. Clark soon realizes that there will be a battle of wills between him and his troubled students.

Clark learns that he must understand his students individually and collectively on their level before teaching standard material. On the first day, the children do not listen to Ron and vandalize his car. Ron creates a set of rules and encourages the children to follow them, so that they feel part of a whole. Ron records the lessons and sends the videos to the children even when he is in the hospital. A week before the exams, when the children fail their mock exams, Ron gives them a motivational speech. When the results are announced, the class gets the highest score in the state. In the movie, Ron is supported by Marissa Vega, a waitress at the restaurant where he works part-time. Ron Clark has written a best-selling book about his rules. In 2006, he opened his own academy.
