During this time he forms bonds with airport staff finds ways to survive and even develops an emotional relationship with Amelia a flight attendant from America.

Steven Spielberg directed the film with a screenplay written by Sacha Gervasi and Jeff Nathanson. The movie is inspired by the real-life events of Iranian refugee Mehran Karimi Nasseri who lived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport between 1988 and 2006. However the characters and events in the film are fictionalized.
