The National Intelligence Academy ([Milli](/en/detay/milli/llms.txt) İstihbarat Akademisi - MIA) is a higher education institution established within the National Intelligence Organization (Milli İstihbarat Teşkilatı - [MIT](/en/detay/mit/llms.txt)) of Türkiye. The academy provides postgraduate education, scientific research, and publications in the fields of intelligence and national security. MIA aims is to enhance the academic and methodological dimensions of intelligence studies, advancing beyond intelligence as a craft to include rigorous theoretical and applied research.

### **Establishment and Legal Framework**

The National Intelligence Academy was officially announced by MIT Director Ibrahim Kalın [at](/en/detay/at-3/llms.txt) [an](/en/detay/an-2/llms.txt) official ceremony marking the 97th anniversary of the agency's establishment on January 10, 2024.

The academy was legally established on the basis of Law No. 7437, which amended the Higher Education Law and was published in the Official Gazette on [February](/en/detay/february/llms.txt) 9, 2023, as well as the State Intelligence Services and National Intelligence Organization Law No. 2937. These legal provisions provide the MIA with the authority to conduct graduate-level education and research while operating under the institutional framework of MIT.

### **Mission and Objectives**

The National Intelligence Academy is designed to offer postgraduate education in intelligence and national security, conduct scientific research and publications in intelligence studies, bridge the gap between practical intelligence work and academic theory, and develop Türkiye’s strategic thinking capacity in intelligence and security.

In this sense, MIA represents a new model in Turkish higher education by integrating intelligence methodology, strategic foresight, and academic rigor.

### **Programs and Academic Focus**

As a postgraduate institution, MIA focuses on the following fields:

- Intelligence Analysis and Methodologies
- National Security Strategy
- Cybersecurity and Digital Intelligence
- Geopolitical Risk and Threat Assessment
- Counterintelligence and Counterterrorism Studies

The academy exclusively offers master's and PhD programs.
