## Article Content

**Mehmet Akif Ersoy Literature Museum Library** is a specialized library established in [Ankara](/en/detay/ankara-2/llms.txt) by the General Directorate of Libraries and Publications of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. As Turkey's first literature museum library, this institution is located in the Hamamönü district in a two-story building that reflects the architectural style of traditional Ankara houses. It operates under the Ankara Adnan [Ötüken](/en/detay/otuken-d982a/llms.txt) Provincial Public Library Directorate.

### **Opening and Working Hours**

The library was inaugurated on [March](/en/detay/march/llms.txt) 12, 2011, which was declared the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Year, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of his passing and the 90th anniversary of the adoption of the Turkish National Anthem. It operates from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except on Sundays and Mondays. ### **Library Collection**

The library building houses a special section dedicated to Mehmet Akif Ersoy, displaying his photographs, works, books written about him, and some of his personal belongings. On the ground floor, there are literary award-winning works, books signed by authors and translators, and facsimiles of the first and last covers of Turkish literary magazines. The second floor contains the Ankara City Library, grammar books, theoretical works, novels, short stories, essays, memoirs, and poetry books.

The collection consists of approximately 7,000 books and around a hundred periodicals, with a significant portion dedicated to the works of Mehmet Akif Ersoy and resources about him. Additionally, the collection includes works by writers from Ankara and surrounding regions, literary reference sources, biographies, facsimiles of manuscripts, and books on the history of the Republican era, further enriching its diversity.

### **Library Building and Architecture**

The library is enclosed by high courtyard walls, with visitors entering through a small courtyard gate. The wooden-structured building features a second floor with rest and meeting rooms, and along the staircase, photographs of Ersoy are displayed. The meeting room stands out with its ceiling decorated with traditional Ankara handcrafting. The museum also exhibits Mehmet Akif Ersoy’s books, pocket watch, glasses, rosary, and a facial mold among his personal belongings.
