## Article Content

Marmara 1 Street is located in the Soğanlı neighborhood of Bahçelievler district in Istanbul. In the early 1970s, the street was predominantly characterized by informal settlements. However, in 1976, the construction of the **Çoban Apartment** by Mehmet [Çoban](/en/detay/coban-3/llms.txt), his father Mustafa Çoban, his elder brother [Adil](/en/detay/adil-4f812/llms.txt) Çoban, and his younger brother Kadir Çoban marked the beginning of a new era for the street. The Çoban family moved into this apartment in 1977. This development initiated the transformation of the street from informal settlements to family apartment buildings.

Over time, additional family apartments such as the **Ateş Apartment**, **Kılıç Apartment**, and **Arslan Apartment** were built on the street. These buildings still exist today. The construction and development in the area gained momentum after 2010, driven by urban transformation projects. As of 2025, 7 out of 21 apartment buildings facing Marmara 1 Street have been renovated under urban transformation initiatives.
