### **Nomenclature and Origin**

The name of Kapuzbasi Waterfalls comes from a word known as "kapuz" in Old Turkish, which is used to describe the water coming out of the rocks. According to another rumor, the name was given to the waterfalls because the ancient Turks used to organize entertainment by the waterfalls in the spring season and play the kopuz. The origin of the waterfall's name is also linked to traditions in the region.

### **Height and Water Flow**

Kapuzbasi Waterfalls are the second highest waterfalls in the world. Ranging in height from 60 to 76 meters, they are shorter only than the Victoria Cascade (100 meters) and higher than many other famous waterfalls. They are much higher than [Niagara Falls](/en/detay/niagara-falls-1a485/llms.txt) (55 meters), Imatra in Finland (25 meters), [Tortum Falls](/en/detay/tortum-falls-3d9ca/llms.txt) in [Erzurum](/en/detay/erzurum-province-e5e63/llms.txt) (50 meters) and [Düdensuyu Falls](/en/detay/duden-falls-670f8/llms.txt) in Antalya (5 meters). In addition, the altitude where the waterfalls flow is around 700 meters.

### **Water Resources and Flow**

The waterfalls are formed by high-flow water springs fed by snow and glacial melting on the peaks of the [Aladağlar](/en/detay/aladaglar-milli-parki-23aa8/llms.txt). These waters cascade down the mountain slopes one after the other, creating an impressive landscape. The water flow is so high that it spreads over large areas around the waterfall and creates a cooling effect in summer, especially in hot weather. The water is fed by the Aksu Stream of the Aladağ Mountains and flows into the [Zamantı River](/en/detay/zamanti-river-91207/llms.txt) and from there into the Seyhan River.
