Defterdar İbrahim Paşa Camii

Treasurer İbrahim Pasha Mosque is located at Defterdarburnu between Ortaköy and Kuruçeşme in Istanbul place. It was commissioned in the second half of the 17th century (1661) by Defterdar İbrahim Paşa. This mosque is also known as "Defterdarburnu Mosque" and "İhmal Paşa Mosque" people.

The mosque is situated along the sea edge, below the road level, in a sunken area. Access to the interior is via a staircase. Building has a unique elevated feature and is a structure accessible through two separate door. One entrance is located above the staircase path and the other is on the seaside in the direction of the qibla. The mosque was constructed using stone and wood materials. The upper parts of the boat sheds are wooden while the mosque’s stone walls are painted in tile red. The mosque follows a rectangle plan and draws attention with a spatial arrangement suitable for worship pure.

Defterdar İbrahim Paşa Mosque has undergone several restorations historical. The first restoration was carried out in 1833 during the reign of Sultan Mahmud II and the second in 1885 during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II. The third and final restoration was conducted in 1941 by the Directorate of Foundations. In subsequent years the mosque was left neglected long duration and fell into a state of disrepair. However, between 2010 and 2011 restoration works were initiated and the mosque was reopened for worship. The funding for the restoration was provided by Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, owner of Acıbadem Hospitals and former president of the Football Federation.

The mosque is a finely crafted structure made with careful use of stone and wood. Its minaret has a cylindrical body and is crowned with a stone finial. Access to the minaret is via a door at the congregation location. The mosque carries significant historical and cultural value value from both structural and architectural perspectives. This mosque, which contributes to Istanbul’s historical fabric and attracts attention for its architecture, has been adapted to modern times following restoration and has regained its former grandeur modern.
