He started his football career in Manisaspor youth academy, then signed a professional contract and was promoted to the A team in 2004. Erkin was transferred to CSKA Moscow, one of the long-established clubs in Russia, in 2007, where he spent 3 seasons. After 6 seasons at Fenerbahçe, Caner Erkin was transferred to Inter Milan in 2016, but could not find the expected time there.
