[BYD Dolphin](/en/detay/byd-dolphin-34402/llms.txt) is a fully electric subcompact hatchback developed by Chinese automaker [BYD Auto](/en/detay/byd-ec0dd/llms.txt). The model plays a significant role in the company’s strategic shift toward electric mobility. It was first introduced in 2021 and has since been launched in multiple markets.

### **Design and Structural Features**

The Dolphin represents BYD’s “Ocean Series” design language, featuring aerodynamic lines and smooth, curved exterior surfaces. The 2023 facelift includes updates to the front bumper and headlight design, new color options, and two-tone body combinations.

According to WLTP standards, the long-range version provides approximately 427 km of range. Maximum speed is 160 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout is optimized for urban and medium-distance driving. DC fast charging allows the battery to charge from 30 % to 80 % in approximately 29 minutes.

### **Interior and Digital Features**

The interior is designed to appeal to modern and younger users. It includes a 12.8‑inch rotating central multimedia screen for controlling most vehicle functions, and a 5‑inch digital instrument cluster providing essential driving information. The Dolphin supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, AI-based voice commands, and OTA (over-the-air) updates. Seats are upholstered in vegan leather, and material quality exceeds segment averages.

### **Connectivity and Driver Assistance Systems**

The Dolphin is equipped with active and passive safety systems as part of BYD’s “DiPilot” driver assistance suite, which includes:

- Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
- Lane centering assist
- Blind spot detection (BSD)
- Forward collision warning
- Automatic emergency braking (AEB)

Additional features include a 360° surround-view camera, parking sensors, and a rear-view camera. Overall, the Dolphin’s driver assistance systems are competitive within its segment of electric vehicles.
