## Article Content

[Tinker Board](/en/detay/asus-tinker-board-751a2/llms.txt) is a single-board computer (SBC) platform developed by [ASUS](/en/detay/asus-company-41f99/llms.txt). Designed for makers, IoT enthusiasts, hobbyists, and users interested in computer hardware, the platform stands out with its versatile applications, hardware features, and software support. Tinker Board provides a suitable foundation for various development scenarios, both in hardware and software contexts.

### **Hardware Features**

Tinker Board utilizes a Rockchip RK3288 series quad-core [ARM](/en/detay/arm-architecture-3fec8/llms.txt)-based SoC (System-on-Chip). Operating at frequencies up to 1.8GHz, this processor delivers enhanced performance for multi-threaded applications. The system includes a Mali™-T764 GPU with up to 16 cores, running at clock speeds up to 600MHz. This GPU component supports efficient performance in applications requiring visual computation and acceleration.

The inclusion of dual-channel DDR3 memory offers higher bandwidth compared to some boards using single-channel DDR2 memory, contributing to improved memory access speeds.

Tinker Board supports microSD cards for operating system installation and data storage. Thanks to SD 3.0 standard support, it enables fast data read and write operations using high-capacity microSD cards.

### **Connectivity and Expandability**

The board features a 40-pin GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) interface for connecting various peripherals and external components. Of these pins, 28 support GPIO functionality and are compatible with communication protocols such as [SPI](/en/detay/serial-peripheral-interface-spi-communication-prot/llms.txt), [UART](/en/detay/uart-communication-protocol-64d1e/llms.txt), and [I2C](/en/detay/i2c-inter-integrated-circuit-afd6a/llms.txt). Additionally, the SPI bus with dual chip-select capability is included within the 40-pin header.

The device is equipped with two HD MIPI connectors, enabling the use of embedded display types such as [touchscreen](/en/detay/tft-screen-b1ade/llms.txt), OLED, and e-ink. A built-in CSI camera interface supports various camera modules, enabling use in fields such as [computer vision](/en/detay/opencv-open-source-computer-vision-library-8e9fa/llms.txt).

With [Gigabit LAN](/en/detay/ethernet-card-network-interface-card-nic-81653/llms.txt) support, the board provides high data transfer rates and stable Ethernet performance. Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules are shielded with metal enclosures to minimize interference and ensure stable signal performance. An IPEX MHF4 antenna connector is also available for external antenna upgrades.

The HDMI port allows video output to TVs and monitors, while four USB 2.0 ports provide peripheral connectivity.

### **Software and Operating System Support**

Tinker Board is compatible with the [Debian](/en/detay/debian-fe6e7/llms.txt)-based TinkerOS operating system. Featuring the LXDE desktop environment, this system offers a user-friendly graphical interface optimized for SBC use. Chromium is provided as the default web browser, benefiting from hardware acceleration for smoother web browsing and support for high-resolution video playback on platforms like YouTube.

TinkerOS includes applications for programming and development, such as [Python](/en/detay/best-python-libraries-for-machine-learning/llms.txt) (IDLE), Scratch, and Squeak. This provides diverse development opportunities for both beginners and experienced users.

The board also supports the [Android](/en/detay/device-software-2ad0e/llms.txt) operating system, allowing for alternative usage scenarios such as media playback and gaming.

### **Audio Capabilities**

Tinker Board is equipped with an HD [audio codec](/en/detay/sound-card-86948/llms.txt) that supports 192kHz / 24-bit audio. Its audio jack functions as both output and microphone input, expanding its range of use.

### **Physical Structure and Design**

The physical dimensions and layout of the board are compatible with commonly used SBC models, allowing it to be used with many commercially available cases and accessories. The color-coded GPIO pins help users identify connection points more easily.

Connection points and layout guides on the board are labeled using silk-screening techniques, aiding in assembly and setup processes. ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) tabs on the MIPI connectors allow for easier visual identification.

Additionally, the board includes a heat sink to improve heat dissipation under heavy processing loads. All input/output interfaces are protected against electrostatic discharge (ESD). The power input includes protection mechanisms such as Overcurrent Protection (OCP), Overvoltage Protection (OVP), and Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO).

### **Use Cases**

Tinker Board can be used in fields such as embedded systems, real-time data processing, IoT sensors, and machine learning. Its powerful processor, extensive connectivity options, and software support make it a suitable platform for a wide range of project foundations.
