## Article Content

Ahmet Naci Tınaz, was born in 1882 in the Serfice Sanjak of Manastır Vilayet. After completing his primary education in Yenişehir, he studied at the Manastır Military High School and the War College. He graduated from the War College as a second lieutenant in 1904. He completed the War Academy in 1907, reaching the rank of Staff Captain. He served in various units of the Ottoman army and was on the front lines during the Balkan Wars and World War I.

During the [Turkish War of Independence](/en/detay/ahmet-naci-tinaz-7aaa2/llms.txt), Tınaz served as Chief of Staff of the Western Front and Commander of the 15th Division. In the Great Offensive, his division captured Tınaztepe. Due to this success, his surname was determined as “Tınaz”. During the Republican era, he held high-level military positions such as Commander of the 6th and 4th Corps and Commander of the Gendarmerie General Command, retiring in 1938.

### **Political Career**

Ahmet Naci Tınaz entered the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) in 1938 as a deputy for Bursa. He served as a deputy in the VI, VII, and VIII terms; in the VIII term, he continued his duty as an Ankara deputy. Between 1939 and 1940, he served as the Minister of National Defense in the II. [Bayar](/en/detay/bayar-celal/llms.txt), I. [Saydam](/en/detay/ibrahim-refik-saydam-a7755/llms.txt), and II. Saydam governments. He also held memberships in the National Defense Committee and the TBMM National Defense Commission. In the Parliament, he actively participated in numerous legislative discussions, especially on military, budget, and administrative matters.

### **Awards and Personal Information**

Tınaz, who knew French, was awarded various medals and decorations such as the Silver Medal of Merit in Battle, the Ottoman Fourth Order of Distinction, the War Medal, the German Iron Cross First and Second Class, and the Independence Medal.

### **Death and Legacy**

Ahmet Naci Tınaz, who passed away on November 25, 1964, was initially buried in Ankara Cebeci Martyr's Cemetery, and later transferred to the State Cemetery on August 30, 1988.
