✨ Thematic Journey and Geographic Route
The most distinctive feature of Istanbul Aquarium is its thematic journey that guides visitors along a complete geographic route. This journey begins in the Black Sea and extends to the Pacific Ocean, comprising a total of 17 distinct thematic zones and one Rainforest section.
Visitors can observe marine and terrestrial species from different geographic regions as if they were on an underwater expedition. Some of these thematic zones include:

Istanbul Aquarium is home to more than 17,000 marine and terrestrial species.
- Large Tanks: The aquarium’s tanks hold massive volumes of water.
- Sharks: Large predatory species such as lemon sharks and sand tiger sharks are displayed in the main tanks. Some sections even offer diving experiences.
- Penguins: The aquarium is home to Türkiye’s first and only Gentoo Penguins, a rare species on display here.
- Rainforest Species: In the Amazon Rainforest section, visitors can see piranhas, lizards, snakes, venomous spiders, and various turtle species.
- Rare Species: Among the aquarium’s notable exhibits are the rare venomous stonefish and several species of batfish, which are seldom encountered elsewhere in the world.
